Montgomery Hall Theatre Latecomers Policy
Policy Version: 1.0
1. Introduction
Montgomery Hall Theatre is committed to providing an enjoyable and uninterrupted experience for all audience members, performers and production teams.
To minimise disruption during performances, this Latecomers Policy explains how admission will be managed once a performance has begun.
By purchasing a ticket and attending an event at Montgomery Hall Theatre, you agree to the terms of this policy.
2. Purpose
This policy aims to:
-
Minimise disruption to live performances.
-
Respect the experience of performers and audience members.
-
Ensure the safe movement of visitors within the auditorium.
-
Maintain consistency in the management of late arrivals.
3. Arrival Times
We strongly recommend that visitors arrive at least 30 minutes before the advertised performance start time.
This allows sufficient time to:
-
Collect tickets (if required).
-
Purchase refreshments.
-
Use the toilet facilities.
-
Find your seat before the performance begins.
Auditorium doors will normally open approximately 30 minutes before the advertised start time, unless otherwise stated.
4. Late Arrival
A visitor is considered a latecomer if they arrive after the advertised performance start time.
To avoid disrupting the performance, latecomers may not be admitted immediately.
Admission will be at the discretion of theatre staff and may depend on:
-
The nature of the performance.
-
Instructions from the production company.
-
Suitable breaks in the performance.
-
Health and safety considerations.
5. Admission During a Performance
Where possible, latecomers will be admitted at an appropriate break in the performance.
This may include:
-
A natural pause in the production.
-
A scene change.
-
The interval.
-
Another suitable point determined by theatre management.
Some performances may not have a suitable break before the interval.
6. Alternative Seating
To reduce disruption, latecomers may be asked to occupy alternative seats temporarily.
Where this is necessary:
-
Alternative seats will be allocated by theatre staff.
-
Visitors may return to their booked seats during the interval where possible.
-
Temporary seating arrangements are at the discretion of theatre staff.
7. No Guaranteed Admission
For certain performances, it may not be possible to admit latecomers until the interval or, in exceptional cases, at all.
Examples may include:
-
Quiet or intimate performances.
-
Classical music concerts.
-
Productions with no suitable break.
-
Performances where audience movement would create a safety risk.
8. Refunds
Tickets are sold subject to Montgomery Hall Theatre's Refund Policy.
Late arrival is not grounds for a refund, exchange or transfer.
Visitors who miss part or all of a performance due to arriving late will not normally be entitled to compensation.
9. Re-Admission
Visitors leaving the auditorium during a performance may be treated as latecomers when returning.
Re-entry may be delayed until an appropriate break in the performance to minimise disruption.
10. Accessibility
Visitors who require additional assistance are encouraged to contact the Box Office before the performance.
Where possible, reasonable adjustments will be made to assist visitors with accessibility requirements.
11. Delays Outside the Theatre's Control
Montgomery Hall Theatre cannot accept responsibility for late arrival due to circumstances outside our control, including but not limited to:
-
Traffic congestion.
-
Road closures.
-
Public transport delays.
-
Weather conditions.
-
Parking delays.
-
Personal circumstances.
Visitors are encouraged to allow sufficient time for their journey.
12. Theatre Delays

Visitors are expected to follow all reasonable instructions provided by staff regarding:
-
